I need help to answer this letter?
Discuss the importance of personal letters and poems as evidence and reflections of the war. What do they offer that history books or news reels can not? would be great if u could give me several reasons.
I would say that there is always the danger that the news could distort the truth in some way – for propaganda purposes during the war, to maintain the morale of the people, for example. The history books may also distort the facts a bit to try to make the country the author seems good! However, the writers of letters and poems are unlikely to want to do this, so it could give a more truthful version of events. Moreover, unlike the writers of history books and news editors were often right there in the front line, where the action was taking place.
