Trade Show Etiquette – free mints and First Impressions
Trade shows are big business today and probably already has a number of invitations upcoming conferences asking if he would be interested in renting space to hawk their wares.
Over the years I have resisted these invitations. It require money and manpower and the ROI may or may not be there. In these challenging times the sellers are looking at their budgets and struggling with that decision. Obviously, you can grow your business unless you are in front of potential customers in person or online.
Last year I decided to attend three fairs suppliers. All were exercises in salesmanship and people watching. I must confess that I enjoyed the late majority. I made a series of observations I promised to share with you before the holidays. Here is a sample of what I learned about the vendor fair attendees.
1. Start with the right foot by setting up your booth on time. What type of printing is done with the show host and attendees continue to be imposed if the products and promotions out when the fair?
2. Avoid eating and drinking in your booth. The message is sent when eating lunch is, "Oops, I did not have time to you now. I'm busy. "
3. Stand up for the event, no matter how bad your feet hurt and your back hurts. The vendors seem to sit idle, disinterested and inaccessible.
4. Save your gossip with your fellow booth until after the show. No one happens by the will of sufficient attention to interrupt the conversation to a sales pitch.
5. Be considerate of other vendors to keep the light and sound presentation for another occasion. During fair, the man in the cabin next door had both audio and video that is seemed that half the time in the Super Bowl.
6. Draw your passers stand by their professional appearance and attitude. Bring your most professional outfit and greet everyone with eye contact, a smile and a greeting. "Hi, how you? "as a greeting is going to create the classic answer," Well. "There's your perspective. Be original.
7. Pay attention to your language and maintaining open-body posture is not sitting idle. Stand out in your stand with hands relaxed at your sides.
8. Remember the 80/20 rule – Listen 80% of the time and about 20% of the time. Otherwise, you will never learn what your prospect wants, needs or thinks.
9. Use your ID card, which everyone can read without squinting.
10. Using the name of the prospectus in the conversation so they know that they are the focus of your attention.
11. Be consistent. You are your company. If you are selling a clown act, be funny no matter how bad mood can be felt at the end of the day. If you are promoting of business etiquette, be kind regardless of the inconsiderate behavior of others.
12. And finally, stay out of cabs from other companies. Wandering in the area of exposure is damaging others and gives them permission to ship in the head when they get bored.
When the show is over, the dust has settled and aches and pains sink, tracking your prospects so that all that effort is not in vain. Turn your contacts into customers.
